A review of recreation in drinking water catchments in South Western Australia.

This report was commissioned by DEC and the Department of Sport and Recreation to address divergent views on the use and application of the Department of Water's Statewide Policy for Recreation within Public Drinking Water Source Areas (PDWSA) and provide an independent, balanced analysis of the information available in relation to recreation in drinking water catchments. The report focuses on the range of values within water catchments and legislative and management issues associated with planning and zoning for public drinking water supply areas in the Southwest of Western Australia.

Review of native vegetation clearing legislation

Environment Minister David Templeman has announced a review of the State's native vegetation clearing legislation to vastly improve processes and environmental outcomes.

The review will examine the Environmental Protection (Clearing of Native Vegetation) Regulations 2004, and those parts of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 that were introduced in 2004 and which make it an offence to clear native vegetation unless a permit is granted or an exemption applies.
