Bush Ranger cadets gain the majority of their conservation skills and knowledge through their participation in practical nature conservation projects.  Bush Ranger cadets are involved in choosing, planning and executing projects.  Some are based at or close to school, so that practical activities can be included in most weekly meetings.  Others provide a range of different opportunities around the State.

The forging of links is encouraged with local councils, community groups and DEC, where projects such as environmental surveys, restoration and monitoring are directed at nature conservation. These projects provide opportunities for team work, leadership and personal involvement and will help students gain self confidence.

Participation in conservation projects will enable Bush Ranger cadets to contribute to their local community and help raise awareness within the community of the importance of nature conservation.
