Big Brooke Dam
Location:6260
Introduction:
Built in 1986 to supplement the Pemberton town and Trout Hatchery water supply, the Big Brook Dam provides a fantastic opportunity for recreational activities. Located just 5km north of Pemberton, this is one of the attractions on the Karri Forest Explorer Drive that has something for everyone, especially families.
About
A sandy Beach has been created for safe swimming and a sealed 4km disabled accessible walk trail leads you around the dam, ideal for prams and push bikes. At Big Brook Dam you will find gas and wood BBQs, shelters, picnic tables and interpretive information.
No camping is available at the dam area. The dam is stocked with trout for fishers to enjoy casting a line (see Fisheries web site for details).
Big Brook Arboretum
Just 3km from Big Brook Dam along the Karri Forest Explorer Drive is the Big Brook Arboretum. Here, you can wander among the many plots of exotic trees that were planted here to see how they would grow and respond to the local soil and climate, and to determine their potential plantation value.
Camping is available at this site and camp fees can be paid at the self-registration station.
