Just 100 kilometres from Perth, the Reserve covers nearly 55,000 hectares, ranging from the steeply forested valley slopes and rock-rimmed pools of the Murray River near the Darling Scarp to the more open, undulating jarrah and wandoo woodlands further east. Tall blackbutt, jarrah and marri forest shades the river valley, and on either side of the river gravel roads lead to recreation areas.

Introduction:
Matilda Bay Reserve features grassy parkland framing the waters of the Swan River, Perth City and Kings Park. The city reserve is a thin strip of land covering 20.6 hectares between Hackett Drive and the Swan River low water mark from Mounts Bay Road to Pelican Point. It accommodates cafes, restaurants, offices, yacht clubs and has a series of universally accessible pedestrian and cycle paths.
The reserve offers the ideal place to picnic on shady river banks, as well as sail, row or simply sit and watch the sun sparkling on the waters of the bay.
There are six designated sites that can be hired for functions. All sites have power, rubbish bins are provided and toilets are nearby. Sites can be booked for marquees or simply roped off for private use.
