All clear for Brookton Highway fire 8 February 2010 1900 hours

Bushfire ALL CLEAR for Brookton Highway near Armadale

ALERT LEVEL:
An ALL CLEAR has been issued for a bushfire in State forest 35km east-south-east of Armadale and 100 metres south of Brookton Highway. It has burnt through approximately 6ha.

The fire has been contained and no private property is threatened. Although there is no immediate danger those nearby should keep up to date in case the situation changes.

WHAT TO DO:
People travelling in the area need to be alert and aware of smoke from any smouldering patches within the fire boundary.

WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
Department of Environment and Conservation fire crews have mopped up but will continue to patrol the fire tomorrow. It also will be monitored by DEC's fire spotting aircraft.

ROAD CLOSURES:
No roads are closed.

AGENCY RESPONSIBLE:
DEC.

ALERT LEVEL:

A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people near Armadale for a fire that has started in State forest 35km east south east of Armadale and 100m south of Brookton Highway. It has burnt through approximately one hectare.

Bushfire ADVICE for Karijini National Park, Pilbara

 

ALERT LEVEL:

A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people within or travelling to Karijini National Park due to a series of fires that were started by lightning strikes in the park on Friday night.

There are no lives or property currently threatened by the fires, however the eastern side of Karijini National Park including Dales Gorge Camping and Day use areas, Fortescue Falls and Circular Pool sites remain closed.

Bushfire ADVICE for Dundas Nature Reserve, Norseman

 

ALERT LEVEL:

A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people travelling on Eyre Highway that smoke maybe visible this afternoon due to a fire in Dundas Nature Reserve 35 kms south of Eyre Highway and 80km east of Norseman.

 

There are no lives or property threatened by the fire.

 

WHAT TO DO:

People travelling within the area need to be aware of the fire and that smoke maybe visible.

 

BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:

The fire is in remote country and has burned 15 500 hectares.

 

WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:

Fire crews are monitoring the fire.

 

ROAD CLOSURES:

No major roads are closed but motorists are asked to be aware of smoke if travelling along Eyre Highway.

 

AGENCY RESPONSIBLE:

The Department of Environment and Conservation is managing the fire.

Call Esperance District Office on 90832100 or listen to news bulletins.

Bushfire ADVICE for Karijini National Park, Pilbara 0900hrs

ALERT LEVEL:

A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people within or travelling to Karijini National Park due to a series of fires that were started by lightning strikes in the park overnight.

The Department of Environment and Conservation evacuated seven campsites at the Dales Gorge camping ground in Karijini National Park last night as a safety precaution due to the fires.

There are no lives or property currently threatened by the fires however the eastern side of Karijini National Park including Dales Gorge Camping and Day use areas, Fortescue Falls and Circular Pool sites have been closed and will remain closed until the fires are declared safe.

Visitors to the park need to keep up to date in case the situation changes.

A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for the communities west of Brand Highway bounded by Beermullah Road West to the south and Mimegarra Road to the north and the coast.

Although the fire threat has eased, people in this area need to put their bushfire survival plan into action. If you have decided to leave for a safer place, leave now if the way is clear and take your bushfire survival kit with you. Residents of Ocean Farms are advised to use Ocean Farm Lane to Indian Ocean Drive.
