Three-year (2011-2013) indicative timber harvest plan

The three-year (2011-2013) indicative timber harvest plans for the Swan, South-West and Warren regions are now available.

The Department of Environment and Conservation has prepared the three-year indicative timber harvest plans in accordance with the Forest Management Plan 2004-2013 and in consultation with the Forest Products Commission (FPC).

2009-10 Yearbook Supplement-Fire season report

A supplementary report to the 2009-10 DEC Yearbook is now available online.

The 2009-10 fire season supplement is a summary of the department's activities during the fire season, which was not included in the original Yearbook. The 2010-11 DEC Yearbook will include summary reports of both the 2009-10 and 2010-11 fire seasons.

Review of the Minimum Standards for Wildlife Rehabilitation in Western Australia

The icon Minimum Standards for Wildlife Rehabilitation in Western Australia, 2008, which have been in circulation and used extensively for three years, are now being reviewed.

To assist us consider and collate you input, please mark you comments, such as:

  • General comments
  • Suggestions for improvements/additions

Thank you for your continued support of sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife, and in particular, your input to this review. If you consider that the current publication needs no changes, there is no need to respond.

Please forward this to any other wildlife rehabilitators who may also have suggestions.

We intend to summarise all comments and input by mid November 2011 for consideration by the Wildlife Rehabilitators Consultation Group (WRCG), and issue a revised document in the first half of 2012.

 

 

Dolphin And Estuary Health Working Group Report

The findings and recommendations of a report prepared by the Dolphin and Estuarine Health Working Group, established last year to investigate the state of dolphin and estuarine health in Western Australia, have been welcomed by the Minister for Environment; Water.

The report sets out a range of recommendations including the appointment of an internationally recognised marine mammal expert to lead a science team.

The report also highlights the need to look for more cohesive science arrangements to underpin estuary health in Western Australia.

Proposed Eighty Mile Beach Marine Park...Have your say

The indicative management plan for the proposed Eighty Mile Beach Marine Park has been released for a statutory public submission period. The indicative management plan provides a framework to conserve the ecological and social values for current and future generations and specifies how the park will be managed over the next 10 years.

DEC is now inviting you to have your say! Your suggestions and comments are important to us and we encourage you to make a submission to DEC regarding your thoughts on the indicative management plan.

The closing date for submissions is Friday 20 January 2012.
