Invasive plants

The Department of Environment and Conservation's Invasive Plants Program provides coordination, liaison and advice for departmental staff and key external stakeholders on matters relating to invasive plant management.

The Invasive Plants Program:

  • provides a contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including ongoing dialogue with the Department of Agriculture and Food WA and Australian Weeds Committee, the NRM Ministerial Council, and the NRM Standing Committee;

  • focuses on improving communication with stakeholders, providing a better framework for prioritising actions, investigating new funding sources and initiating new projects and processes for weed management in WA;

  • prepares documentation including Ministerial correspondence, briefing notes, articles, and applications and planning documents relating to environmental weed management;

  • represents the department on both State and National interagency and community groups such as the National Athel Pine Management Committee and National Asparagus Weeds Management Committee; and

  • provides input into internal processes.
