Call for public nominations for listing (and delisting) of threatened plants and animals

The Western Australian Threatened Species Scientific Committee (TSSC) meets at least annually to consider nominations to list or delist threatened species, or to change the IUCN threat rank of listed species.

The public is invited to submit nominations to amend the current Declared Rare Flora and Specially Protected Fauna lists. 

The listing process:

1. The public is invited to submit nominations to add taxa to, or delete taxa from, the current lists, or to change the IUCN threat rank of listed species.
2. The Threatened Species Scientific Committee meets to review the nominations and makes recommendations to the Minister, via the Director General of DEC and the WA Conservation Commission.
3. The Minister for the Environment endorses or rejects the new nominations.
4. The Threatened Fauna and Declared Rare Flora (DRF) lists are updated and published in the Western Australia Government Gazette, usually annually.  The lists are published as the Wildlife Conservation (Specially Protected Fauna) Notice and the Wildlife Conservation (Rare Flora) Notice. 

TSSC meetings are usually held near the end of the first quarter of the calendar year.  The closing date for nominations for TSSC meetings is the last Friday of January that year.
