bibbtracklogo.jpgThe Bibbulmun Track is Western Australia's only long-distance walking trail and is one of the longest, continuously marked trails in Australia. It is named after a distinct Aboriginal language group, known as the Bibbulmun, who inhabited some of the areas on the south coast through which the track passes. It is marked by a stylised image of the Waugal (rainbow serpent), a spirit being from the Aboriginal Dreaming.

bibtrackshelter.jpg This world-class, 963km long-distance walktrail stretches from Kalamunda, a Hills suburb on the outskirts of Perth, to Albany, on the south coast.

Use these pages as a starting point for your exploration of the Bibbulmun Track. They contain the latest news, seasonal updates on track conditions, and a range of other useful information.

Bibbulmun Walk 2008 - the journey of a decade

bibwalk2008logo.jpg On the 13th September 1998, the 'new' Bibbulmun Track was formally opened in Albany. Ten years on, this milestone will be commemorated with an End-to-End walk, finishing at the Northern Terminus in Kalamunda on the 13th September 2008, celebrating the 10th Anniversary.

Starting in Albany on Wednesday 16 July, 2008, a small group of walkers accompanied by guides will spend the next eight weeks walking the Track to Kalamunda, arriving to a warm welcome on Saturday 13 September. People from all over Australia are encouraged to join in the celebrations by walking a section on this historic End-to-End walk or by joining one of the community celebrations along the way.
