Royalties for Regions
Royalties for Regions is an historic agreement that underlines the State Government’s long-term focus on regional development throughout Western Australia. Through Royalties for Regions, the equivalent of 25 per cent of the State’s mining and onshore petroleum royalties will be returned to the State’s regional areas each year as an additional investment in projects, infrastructure and community services.
Royalties for Regions projects are being implemented right across the State, giving people in regional areas new opportunities to help shape their own future and plan for longer-term sustainable development.

Publishers National Environment Bureau
The Publishers National Environment Bureau was formed by the major Australian newspaper and magazine publishers in 1990 to represent their interests in recycling. Since then, a series of industry waste reduction agreements with the Commonwealth and State governments has seen newspaper recycling levels increased from 28 per cent (at the start of 1990) to almost 78 per cent last year, making Australia a world leader in recycling old newsprint. The paper is de-inked at the Norske Skog Mill in NSW and then used in the manufacture of new newsprint here in Australia. |
