Community Involvement 1. Basic Course in Wildlife RehabilitationThis introductory course, facilitated by the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC), is designed for anyone in the community interested in the welfare and protection of our native wildlife. Information is presented by Perth Zoo's veterinary staff and some of Western Australia's most experienced wildlife rehabilitators. They will share their expertise in their specialised fields - marsupials (kangaroos and possums), reptiles and birds (including raptors). The course also caters for those interested in volunteering at an established wildlife rehabilitation centre and is a prerequisite for those volunteers who would like to become a registered DEC wildlife rehabilitator. The course is conducted over two full days from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Courses are held at DEC's state operational headquarters, 17 Dick Perry Avenue, Kensington. Participants will receive a comprehensive course manual and a certificate of attendance on completion of the course. Fees for the metropolitan courses are $250 including GST. Discounts are available - please refer to the registration form and booking conditions below. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided each day. Free parking is also available.
