Published: MAY-2011

The Wagerup Air Quality Study was a study of ambient air in Wagerup and its surrounding areas conducted between May and October 2009.

Full report and summary of the DEC Winter 2006 Study, and supporting reports from CSIRO and Arizona State University are available below.

First published 8:30am 4 Nov 2008: Updated 3:40pm 10 Dec 2008
Community questions with responses from the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) and the Department of Health (DoH).
Please note that there was a typographical error in the response to question one of the previous version of this document, posted on the web on Friday 5 December. In the original version it was stated that, "For formaldehyde, the long-term guideline is 2ppm (parts per million) as an annual average." This is incorrect, as a long-term guideline which should be used is 2ppb (parts per billion).

Published 1:10pm 24 Oct 2008
This report describes the results of the Arizona State University's Lidar monitoring study. Lidar (Light Detection and Ranging - a laser radar) is an air quality measuring instrument deployed to investigate possible pollution pathways and meterological mechanisms which may lead to local air quality problems.

Evaluation of The Atmospheric Pollution Model (TAPM) performance for Wagerup III Environment Review and management Program (ERMP) using data from Winter 2006 Field Studies (Phases A, B and C)
These reports presents the findings from the analysis of eight case study days from the Winter Study 2006 in order to investigate three important dispersion pathways for the transport and dispersion of refinery emissions.

Published 5:12pm 28 Apr 2011
This report assesses the performance of TAPM version 4.0.1, compared to version 3.07 used in 2008 modelling, for predicting the observed meteorology in the region surrounding the Wagerup alumina refinery. An assessment of the model's performance in simulating odour dispersion from a single significant source was also undertaken.
