PRESCRIBED BURNING - Autumn and Spring

Prescribed burning is the controlled application of fire under specified environmental conditions to attain planned objectives.

Because of the specific conditions required the dates of burns cannot be programmed in advance.

Where a burn may affect the Munda Biddi Trail, measures to ensure the safety of Trail users have been planned.

Safety measures may include diversions and temporary tent sites. Before a burn is started, signs and Trail markers will be posted on the ground advising Trail users of these measures. Measures will remain in place until the regular Trail alignment has been declared safe by DEC officers.

Stay on the marked Trail and follow signs, marked diversions and instructions from DEC officers.

Prescribed burns that may be lit today are shown here
