PRESCRIBED BURNING - Autumn and Spring

Prescribed burning is the controlled application of fire under specified environmental conditions to attain planned objectives.

Because of the specific conditions required the dates of burns cannot be programmed in advance.

Where a burn may affect the Munda Biddi Trail, measures to ensure the safety of Trail users have been planned.

Safety measures may include diversions and temporary tent sites. Before a burn is started, signs and Trail markers will be posted on the ground advising Trail users of these measures. Measures will remain in place until the regular Trail alignment has been declared safe by DEC officers.

Stay on the marked Trail and follow signs, marked diversions and instructions from DEC officers.

Prescribed burns that may be lit today are shown here

For more information on prescribed burning click here.

CAMPFIRES

Fires are not permitted at any time at Munda Biddi camp sites. Riders may use fuel stoves.

MINING OPERATIONS - King Jarrah Form, South of Bidjar Ngoulin Camp Site - Map 3a

The southernmost 5.9km of King Jarrah Form has been closed because of an expansion of Alcoa's mining operations to the east.  A 4.4km realignment of the Trail has been put in place.

During the construction of a road which will overpass Nanga Road in this area riders should proceed with caution. Follow the marked realignment and the directions of any personnel on site.
