Winners of the Great Western Woodlands competition announced

On Thursday 24th January 2013 the Minister for Environment, Bill Marmion, announced the winners of the DEC EcoEducation Great Western Woodlands school teacher competition.

Ministerial Statement

The competition is part of the State Government's $3.8 million commitment to implementation of A Biodiversity and Cultural Conservation Strategy for the Great Western Woodlands with the intention of providing information and activities on the largest intact Mediterranean woodland in the world for use by schools throughout the state.

Teachers were invited to submit a set of 3 lesson plans on various themes relevant to the Great Western Woodlands. Teachers attending a symposium in October last year had a preview of some of the entries as well as participating in activities and knowledge building at various sites within the Great Western Woodlands.

Great Western Woodlands competition and PL

$500 prizes to be won in each of 6 theme areas!

A teacher (K-12) competition is being held to build a set of materials for the new Great Western Woodlands (GWW) EcoEducation resource. A Teacher Professional Learning tour of the GWW is being conducted on the 10th to 12th October.
