The Department of Environment and Conservation runs a variety of volunteer projects including scientific research, community education and manual labour, throughout the state.
People wanting experience in a new field but unable to use an organised Educational Work Experience Program may be able to participate in volunteer programs.
Volunteers are registered, insured against personal accident and given guidance and training. People under the age of 16 may take part, but need parental permission and control and, unfortunately, cannot be insured.
Accommodation is generally not available in remote locations.
