Our environment

The Department of Environment and Conservation is working towards a vision of "A healthy, diverse and well-managed Western Australian environment."

The department will achieve this vision by

  • conserving biodiversity
  • managing natural resources and promoting sustainable practices
  • leading climate change actions
  • creating a world class parks system
  • implementing sustainable forest management
  • preventing pollution and remediating contamination
  • maintaining community involvement and support, and
  • improving the way we do business.

In this section of the website, you will find information about the "big picture" environmental issues that the department has some responsibility for managing, with the help of other agencies and the whole of the Western Australian community. You will also find details about the scientific research that underpins our activities.
