Hope for the Future: The Western Australian State Sustainability Strategy, is Australia's first comprehensive sustainability strategy developed by an Australian State or Territory Government.
The strategy seeks to give sustainability meaning for Western Australia: its regions, its issues, its projects and its communities. It accepts that there are tensions between economic, environmental and social goals and seeks to resolve them through finding mutual benefit.
The strategy was released by the Premier on 17 September 2003 at the International Sustainability Conference in Fremantle.
