FUEL REDUCTION BURNING OPERATIONS – AUTUMN 2013

DEC conducts a program of fuel reduction burning operations during spring and autumn each year. These burns are undertaken for a variety of reasons including property protection, fuel reduction and biodiversity management.

These burns are carefully planned however they may cause some disruption to cyclists. Where fuel reduction burns impact directly on the Trail temporary diversions will be put in place including temporary campsites where necessary. Fuel reduction burning operations are dependent on appropriate weather conditions and, as such, dates for operations are not available in advance.

The following sections of Trail may be affected by fuel reduction burning operations during autumn 2013. For your safety, follow all signs, diversions and instructions from DEC staff.

Map 4b Nala Mia Camp Site

Groups and individuals accessing the Nala Mia Campsite by vehicle are advised to park vehicles on the other side of the park where the trail head and toilets are located. In order to protect the vegetation and limit the resulting erosion damage caused by vehicles, parking at the camp site is not permitted.

Please drive slowly through Jarrahwood to assist in keeping the dust down in the area.

Map 4b Logging diversion

The Munda Biddi Trail is closed for 16km while logging is undertaken. An 18.5km diversion is in operation along Vernon, Claymore and Shearwater Roads as shown on the map.

Cyclists heading south should ride along Vernon Road, turn right onto Claymore Road and left onto Shearwater Road before rejoining the Munda Biddi Trail. North-bound riders should leave the Munda Biddi Trail at Shearwater Road, turn right onto Claymore Road and then turn left onto Vernon Road before rejoining the Trail just before Goodwood Road.

The original alignment will remain closed until declared safe. For your safety stay on the marked diversion, adhere to all signage and directions from logging and FPC staff. Riders should be aware of logging operations vehicles and other traffic whilst cycling along roads.
