MethodsData were entered into a database formatted identically to the Department of Agriculture Western Australia collection database, which is an Access program. All images and headings were changed where necessary to the Department of Environment and Conservation specifications. Geocodes were either read off the AUSLIG program, which was part of the database program, or manually worked out. Spelling of insect names was checked using various reference books and all the data where checked at the end of the day. AcknowledgementsDEC wish to thank the Gordon Reid Foundation for Conservation, which is administered by the Lotteries Commission of WA, for the grant, which enabled this database to be compiled. The President of the Western Australia Insect Study Society, Tom Burbidge, applied for this grant and supervised the databasing throughout. Special thanks to the three staff of the WA Herbarium, Kaye Veryard, Meriel Falconer and Evelyn McGough, who entered all the data into the database and to Beryl Crane who administered the finances. Thanks to Nicholas Lander for advice on the grant application and to Sue Carroll and Nicholas Lander for arranging Herbarium databasing staff to work on this project. Thanks to the late John Dorlandt who originally helped cost the project. Thanks to Rob Emery of the Department of Agriculture who gave DEC a copy of their ICDB program so that the BugBase database could be started, and to Rob and Natasha Zilm who tutored the three Herbarium databasers to enter the data into the program. Without their help the databasing could not have been completed.
