The Gilbert's potoroo (Potorous gilbertii) is one of the world's most endangered mammals. There are currently less than 50 Gilbert's potoroos in the wild.

A wild population of Gilbert's potoroos live on the slopes of Mt Gardner, in Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve, east of Albany, Western Australia.

As part of our research & conservation activities, DEC has established a captive colony of Gilbert's potoroos in Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve and an introduced wild population on nearby Bald Island.
